On July 14, 2015 satsang was held on the occasion of 52 nd Mahasamadhi day of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. Large number of devotees participated in paduka pujan and Mahamrutunjay Japa.
Chariot Festival (Ratha Yatra) of the Lord Jagannatha at the Ashram ( July 16, 2015 )
The significance of Chariot Festival as per Vedic scriptures is that anyone who sees Lord Jagannatha or pulls His chariots earns an immense spiritual benefits. By His supreme potency, the Lord agrees to personally enter the form of Deity, just to accept the loving service of His devotees. In this sense the Deity is non-different from the Lord Himself. And once a year Lord Jagannatha comes forth in His entire magnificent splendor to enjoy the Ratha-yatra parade and show Himself to all.
At our ashram, we had a graceful Ratha Yatra on July 16, 2015 . The Idols of Lord Sri Jagannatha, brother Balaramji & sister Subhadraji were adorned splendidly after ceremoniously worshipped by temple priest. Then the idols were mounted on the silver thrown in decorated chariot and brought out for the procession. It was a joyous occasion for all. Devotees were singing and dancing in the praise of the Lord. Devotees present on the occasion experienced the Divine Presence of the Lord. Guru Purnima Utsav (July 31, 2015)
Guru Purnima was celebrated in great reverence and devotion at Shree Swami Chidananda Dhyan-yoga templethe Ashram. The satsang began with recitation of Sri Jai Ganesh prayers, Sivananda Panchkam, Guru Strotras. Paduka pujan & Bhajan kirtan were offered to Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj & Guru Maharaj Shree Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. Devotee were blessed to receive Divine message of Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji by phone, as Swamiji Maharaj is away from ashram on Centenary tour to the West. Smt. Rupa Majmudar shared her feelings towards Guru. This was followed by mahaprasad to all .
Regular Ashram Activities
At Ashram regular Yoga classes in seven batches for beginners and advanced yoga students carried out this month as usual.
Sivananda Clinic at the Ashram - Dr. Snehal Amin’s consultation on how to cure diseases by yogic science continues and number of patients who got benefited increasing day by day.
Many devotees participated in regular religious worships at the Ashram namely Guru Paduka Pooja on Thursday, a special evening worship at Sri Ashtalaksmi Bhavan on Friday, Sri Sunderkand Path on Saturday, a special Satsang on Sunday and daily night satsangs. Also Sri Lalita Sahasranam at Sri Ashtalakshmi Bhavan and Sri Satyanarayan pooja on full Moon day were performed.
As always, on first Sunday Grain distributed to needy and on 3 rd of the month feeding to poor were done. Nutritious food was provided to children under Narayana seva project run by the Ashram. About 600 Kg grain was distributed to underprivileged families. Daily Satsang and pujas are performed regularly in the temples.
Former President of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam Passed Away
Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, former President of India passed away
on 27th July 2015 in the evening while he was addressing students of Indian
Institute of Management. Dr. Kalam was an honorary visiting professor to many
institutes like IIM Shillong. Dr. Kalam had a massive cardiac arrest and passed
away before reaching the hospital. Dr. Kalam's sudden demise has shocked the
entire nation, as he was regarded as People's President when he was the
President.
He wanted to become a pilot but unfortunately he failed in its tests held at
Dehradun near Rishikesh. With some wise persons' advice he came to Rishikesh and
stayed at Sivananda Ashram under the umbrella of H.H. Sri Swami Sivanandaji
Maharaj. Swamiji told him, "Do not be disheartened; a wide sky awaits you." Dr.
Kalam writes in his famous book 'Wings of Fire' - "Monks of Sivananda Ashram
were very kind and generous; they all gave me warmth; they taught me relaxation
and meditation. I personally am highly indebted to them. They all gave me a
treasure for life."
I had the opportunity to see him at President's House and talk to him one on one
for 45 minutes. He gave due respect in the manner as one President gives respect
to another President saying, "You are President of your ashram and you will
continue to serve your institute in that power only, whereas I am here as
President for a few days only. He was humble, noble, kind and down to earth.
I even had the opportunity to share the dias with Dr Kalam and address a mammoth
crowd of youth at Mahatma Mandir Gandhinagar Gujarat on January 12th 2012 to
commemorate Sri Swami Vivekananda Maharaj's 150th birth anniversary.
Although Revered Dr. Kalam may not be with us in his divine physical presence,
through his teachings, sharings and spirit of serving mankind, he will be alive
forever.

At the Holy Feet of my Gurudev ; "Light of my life & Life of my life", says Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Yes, this is a verbatim truth, Guru Smarana is unbroken in HIS heart. Narrating life incidences of Gurumaharaj are so spontaneous and heartfelt that touches the heart of listeners and brings them to tears. We know that the Guru never dies even though He might not be in the physical form, we observe that Pujya Swamiji incessantly feels the presence of Guru Maharaj. His devotion to Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj & Gurumaharaj Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj is unparallel. HE taught us to surrender to SIVA. Jai ho! Jai Gurudev!
Chidananda Birth Centenary Tour 2015 of Pujya Swami Adhyatmananadji is a
part of
Chidananda Birth Centenary Celebrations planned by Sivananda Ashram,
Ahmedabad during birth centenary year of Gurumaharaj (Sept 24, 2015 - Sept 24,
2016). It is indeed a rare opportunity to be a part of this memorable occasion.
The key organizers of HIS past tours joined together and coordinated Centenary
Tour 2015 itinerary.
The tour commenced from Chicago on June 1, 2015 holy Sannyasa day of Gurudev
Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj with satsang organized by Gita study group members.
Tour itinerary took Swamiji to Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte (NC), Bloomington
(IN), Detroit, Windsor, Toronto, New Jersey, San Jose, Milwaukee, Madison,
Toledo, back to Chicago and now continued to UK before going back to ashram on
Sept 1, 2015.
