Key to Bliss - "Meditation on OM" from Mandukya /Upnisha//d/ by Swami
Sivananda
" The wise think that the fourth, Turiya, is not that which is
conscious of the internal (subjective) world, nor that which is
conscious of the external (objective) world, nor that which is conscious
of both, nor that which is a compact mass of knowledge, nor that which
is simple consciousness, nor that which is insentient. It is unseen,
unrelated, incomprehensible, undefinable, unthinkable, indescribable,
the sole essence of the consciousness of the Self with no trace of the
conditioned world, the peaceful, all-bliss, non-dual. This is the Atman,
the Self and it is to be realized."
The fourth, Turiya, cannot be described in words. lt is the
transcendental state that has to be realized through meditation.
Therefore it is described by negative attributes. The Atman is
incomprehensible because it is beyond the reach of the senses. It is
undefinable because it has neither qualities nor form, neither color nor
shape. It has neither sound nor touch, neither taste nor smell and
therefore it is indescribable. The reader may doubt here as to the very
existence of the Atman. Hence it is said that the Atman is the sole
essence of the consciousness of Self, Existence Absolute, the Self of
all, an embodiment of calmness and bliss, one without a second, part
less, homogeneous essence, Akhanda-ekarasa.
Antah-prajna: knowledge of impressions as in dreams. Bahih-prajna:
consciousness of external objects. It is Alakshanam. Therefore, it is
beyond thought. The fourth state, Turiya, is distinct from the waking
state, the dreaming state, an intermediary state between waking and
dreaming, and the deep sleep state. It is perfect awareness or pure
Consciousness. Turiya is distinct from Isvara. Turiya or Brahman has no
relation with the world, whereas Isvara governs the world. Brahman is
Nirupadhika, i.e., free from the Upadhi of Maya, whereas Isvara is
Sa-upadhika, i.e., with Maya. Brahman is supra-cosmic, Isvara has cosmic
consciousness.
Strictly speaking Turiya is not a state. Turiya or Brahman is an
embodiment of peace and bliss. It is the substratum for the other three
states, viz., waking, dreaming and deep sleep. lt pervades the three
states. It is Existence Absolute, Knowledge Absolute and Bliss Absolute.

Lord Sri Krishna- Divine Incarnation, "Purna Avatara"
On auspicious Janmashtami (Aug 12, 2020)
"Bhagavan Sri Krishna is the immortal manifestation of God in all His
splendor, that man was ever given the fortune to behold. Man! Blessed
thou art, that hast visualized with thy fleshly eyes the mighty Dignity
of the Supreme Sovereign of the Universe! Thou art purified; thy
birthright is to realize Him; thy fortune is a part of His Greatness!
Sri Krishna may be called the "Collective Man", who represented all
beings hungering and thirsting to gain the Highest Freedom and who
voiced forth their deepest aspirations in the loudest possible tone. He
came to release man from the thraldom of vice and correct his vision so
that he could walk along the ever-illumined path to perfection. Sri
Krishna is the articulation of the pure longings that are buried in the
hearts of people. Sri Krishna is not merely a historical man who came
and went, like others, but the Eternal Purusha who dwells even now and
shall live in the everlasting future, in the core of all manifestation.
It is the Symbol of the Absolute descended into relativity that we call
Krishna, the ever-beloved protector of all that breathe and air."
"So Sri Krishna is called an Avatara, a descent of God in the world, of
the Whole in the parts, of the Absolute in the relative. An Avatara is
different from a Rishi or a Jivanmukta who represents an ascent of man
to God, whereas the Avatara is a descent of God to man, consciously and
deliberately. Sri Krishna lived the universal life, laughed a universal
laughter, and walked on earth as the moving Spirit of the universe. To
worship Him is to be in the Presence of God; to know Him is to realize
the Self."- Swami Sivananda << Read Complete>>

Early Morning Meditation talks from "Ponder These Truths" by Swami
Chidananda
"Be Aware of Only the One"
"Glorious Immortal Atman! Beloved and blessed children of the Divine!
You are upon the path to divine perfection, a divine perfection that is
your birthright, a divine perfection which is your birthright because it
is inherent in you, a divine perfection which is inherent in you because
you are an amsa (part) of the supreme, all-perfect, paripurna (all-full)
parabrahman."
"You are not only an amsa; aparoksha’nubhuti (direct experience) will
establish it beyond doubt, make you experience beyond doubt, that you
are identical with parabrahman. Jivo-brahmaiva naparah (the individual
is not other than Brahman)—that is content of aparoksha’nubhuti.
Therefore jivatva (individuality) is a superimposition due to upadhis
(limiting adjuncts or additions). Brahmatva is your sahaja avastha
(natural state)."- Swami Chidananda << Read Complete>>

Learning of "Jeevan Yog" from a Yoga Acharya Sri Swami Adhyatmananda
Through TV episodes of "Jeevan Yoga" Serie
<http://divyajivan.org/Jeevan%20Yoga/Index.htm>s by Doordarshan Girnar
"Meditation": Before starting meditation it should be very clear in our
mind why do we practice meditation ?
Meditation is a positive vital, dynamic process. It transforms man into
divinity. Sit for meditation at fixed hours, Brahmmuhurt, noon, evening
dusk twilight, and night. Sit in Padma, Siddha, Sukha, or Svastika
Asana. Keep the head, neck and trunk in a straight line. Do not bend
either forward of backward. To meditate on a Name and a Form of the Lord
is Saguna-Dhyana. This is concrete meditation. Meditate on any form of
God you like, and repeat His Name mentally. This is Saguna-Dhyana. Or
repeat OM mentally and meditate on abstract ideas like Infinity,
Eternity, Purity, Consciousness, Truth, Bliss, etc., identifying these
with your Self. This is Nirguna-Dhyana. Stick to one method. In the
initial stages, Saguna-Dhyana alone is suitable for the vast majority of
persons.
Go in the shelter of your Guru, follow his instructions and teaching for
the whole life. Meditate regularly. The journey from Muladhara to
Sahasrara is not imaginary. You become separate from the mind,
intelligence, ego and bodily consciousness and you merge in Param
Tattva. All dualities, all sorrows, all pains will vanish in toto. You
will attain the Goal of God-Realization. By having firm trustworthy
connection with Parama Tattva you will certainly attain permanent peace
and Mahat(great) Tattva. Practice Meditation and achieve.<< Read

*"Srimad Bhagavatamrut"*
<http://divyajivan.org/divya_jivan/DJ_Aug-Sept2020/DJ_Aug-Sept2020.pdf>:
It is such a blessed occasion to listen to Srimad Bhagavat Kathamrutam
from Pujya Sri Swamij Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj on Vysapeeth. Pujya
Swamiji narrating the glories of Lord's Vishnu, Lord Rama Avatara, Sri
Krishna Janmotasav, Sudama Akhyan, the Bhagavat dharma, Sri Lallaji's
Shringar darshan, Bhagavat Kirtan, Lord Krishna's departure, Uddhav Gita
and more......... all is a spiritual feast for the Devotees. Ashram has
organized Srimad Bhagavat Katha by Pujya Swamiji many times.
"The Bhagavata is the most popular and exalted of all Puranas. The
Bhagavata consists of eighteen thousand Slokas. The book is named
Bhagavata because it speaks of the glory of Bhagavan or Vishnu. It
contains the essence of all the Puranas. The Bhagavata Dharma as taught
by the nine sages to King Nimi in the beginning of the eleventh Skandha,
is thrilling and soul-stirring. The tenth Skandha contains all the Lilas
of the Lord."........"Jnana, Bhakti and Karma are assigned their
respective places in this book. Karma is prescribed for those who are
very much attached to the body and this world. Jnana is prescribed for
those who are detached and dispassionate (Virakta). Bhakti is prescribed
for those who are neither very much attached nor very much detached and
who are indifferent. It teaches all about Bhagavata Dharma or the
religion of love."- Swami Sivananda
Now, Revered Swamiji has written the *essence of Srimad Bhagavata
Amrutam *for us and has done a great service for the benefits of people
at large. It is a Master Piece. The Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad is very
happy to bring it to you all. This Month's Divya Jivan Spiritual
magazine (combined August & September) is dedicated to "Srimad Bhagavat
Amrutam" written by H. H Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj.

*Wisdom Sparks
*The greatest help to spiritual life is meditation. Meditation means the
mind is turned back upon itself. The mind stops all the thought-waves
and the world stops. Your consciousness expands. Every time you meditate
you will keep your growth. In meditation we divest ourselves of all
material conditions and feel our divine nature. We do not depend upon
any external help in meditation. Just those few moments in meditation
your brain has almost stopped. You forget the body. You feel such
pleasure in it. The meditative state is the highest state of existence.
- Swami Vivekananda*
*
"The very essence of meditation is a state of mind. when the mind is
filled with God and God alone, nothing else besides God. I repeat:
“Meditation is filling the Mind with God-thought”, and, therefore,
emptying the mind of all thought other than that of God." - Swami
Chidananda
