Diwali Ankoot Darshan
Month of October was full of Spiritual activities at the Ashram including Navaratri festival, Gita Jnana Yajna, Hirak Jayanti of Gurudev Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj's visit of Gujarat.
Navaratri Festival ( Oct 8, 2010 - Oct 17, 2010 ) : Navaratri is traditionally time for Devi worship, a period of introspection and purification. It was an intense Sadhana time at the ashram during nine days of Navaratri. Each day commenced with early morning prayers & worship services at Sri Sri Sri Ashtalaxmi Bhavan, followed by recitation of Bhagavad Gita by devotees, led by Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. In the afternoon, group recitation of "Sri. Durga Saptashati" was truly enriching for all. Durga Saptashati is Devi Mmahatmaya of seven hundred Mantras, considered very potent. It forms a part of the Markandeya Purana, one of the 18 important puranas of Hinduism. Also, Television channel broadcasted half an hour talk by Rev. Sri Swamiji Maharaj on ‘Durga Saptsati’ and " Devi Mahatmaya" during all nine days for the benefits of People at large.
Nights were rejoiced in praise of Mother Durga in the form of traditional garba and dandia-ras by devotees and singers alike. Amongst them were renown singers Amul Chhote Ustad, Ms. Aishwarya Majmudar, Sri Nitin Mukesh and his son a leading film star Sri Neil Nitin Mukesh. They brought a special fervor in the joyous Garba time. There was a Havan, Kanya Pooja and Samapan on Dussera.
On eighth day of Navratri Government of Gujarat organized a vibrant Garba-ras competition program. Prizes were distributed to the best Garba Raas team of Gujarat by the worthy hands of Pujya Sri Swamiji. Chief Minister of Gujartat Sri Narendra Modi joined for the conclusion of the program and Aarti.
Diamond Jubilee festival of Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj's visit to Ashram / Spiritual Retreat ( Nov 1, 2010 - Nov 3, 2010 ) : Sivananda Ashram celebrated diamond jubilee of visit of Holy Master Gurudev Sri Swami Sivavandaji Maharaj in sivanandaic spirit. Eight thousand and five hundred children from thirty seven schools of Ahmedabad city (West) took part in various competitions like elocution, essay writings, paintings, Surya Namaskara, the field game kabadi etc. The finals were organized at the ashram ground on Oct 23rd & Oct 24th. This entire program was guided and structured by Sri Arunbhai Oza, a trustee and Vice- President of the Ashram and Mr. Maulik Shah the owner of A-1 School. Certificates and prizes were awarded to all participants and the winners received special honor.
Gita Jnana Yajana ( Oct 29, 2010 - Nov 3, 2010 ) Sri Swamiji Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj conducted Gita Jnana Yajna starting from Oct 29th. It is on the ‘Adhyatma Yoga’, Chapter eighth of Gita. This Satsang will conclude on Nov 3, 2010 with Spiritual Retreat and a Special Satsang.

World Blood Donation day ( Oct 1, 2010 ) A special meeting was organized by Gujarat Red Cross on World donation day celebrated World blood donation day by meeting October 1st being World Blood Donation Day, it upon the patronage of Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Justice B. J. Diwan was the Chief Guest of the program. This program was sponsored by the famous Adani Group. Smt. Dr. Priti Adani and Sri Sridhar Tamra Parni, vice president of Adani group also were present on the stage. Sri Mukesh Patel, President of Gujarat Red Cross praised Pujya Sri Swamiji and said that Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji is not only Centurion Blood Donor himself but he keeps on inspiring hundreds of young people to come forward for this noble cause. On this occasion a rickshaw driver Mr Rohit Upadhyay donated his blood for 100th times. One thousand thirty nine people donated on this day. It is a matter of pride for the fact that with this total of sixty six centurion blood donors credited in Ahmedabad city alone so far.
Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (Oct 2, 2010): Nation celebrated Pujya Bapuji, Mahatma Gandhiji's birth anniversary day on Oct 2, 2010. At well known Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad all religion prayer meeting was held which was led by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji .
On Oct 20, 2010 Air Marshal Anil Chopra AVSM, VM, VSM (in charge Southern Command) and Air Marshal Dinesh Chandra Kumaria AVSM, VM, VSM (in charge Western Command) visited Sivananda Ashram. They had darsan and satsang with Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji. Tree plantation was done by them at the Ashram.
On Oct 20, 2010 the laying of the foundation stone of Sri Sri Anandamayi Maa”s Mantra Mandir was done in the holy presence of Pujya Sri Swamiji Maharaj.
Famous Himalayan Yogi Pilot Baba visited Ahmedabad for his eleven day long Sri Chakra Yajna. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji was invited to preside over the welcome function on Oct 21, 2010 .
On Oct 22, 2010 H. H. Sri Swami Tadrupanandaji Maharaj of Manan Ashram, Bharuch visited Sivananda ashram and graced and shared his views on Vedanta with the devotees during their regular weekly gathering.
On Oct 23, 2010 International Education Institute Swami Narayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratisthan organized their first convocation for their thirty two students who have learnt Veda, Sanskrit and Upanishads for twelve years and completed the post graduation study. They were honored. Sri Swamiji Maharaj enlightened the mammoth gathering the purpose of celebration.
On Oct 24, 2010 Dr. Pravin Togadiaji the President VHP visited the ashram. He was greeted by Revered Sri Swamiji.
On Oct 31, 2010 in the early dawn the a mega session of all regular yoga classes was held. It was one and a half hour session of Trataka, Yogasana and Pranayam guided by Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji. After the session Blood Donation Camp was organized and a great number of blood donors donated the blood.
Visit to Bhavnagar : Honoring generous invitation of Dr. Narenbhai Joshi, trustee of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh Sri Swamiji and Sri Upendrabhai Purohit, Secretary of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh visited Bhavnagar from Oct 17th to Oct 19th . Two Satsangs were organized by Sri Narenbhai Joshi and Dr. Sri Ashokbhai Baxi.
