Sri AshtaLakshmi Bhavan

Sri Chidananda Dhyana Mandir

Rev. Sri Gurudev H.H. Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj arrived at Ahmedabad on 26th April, 2001.  Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj received Sri Gurudev at Ahmedabad airport. The Ashram vehicle was permitted to go up to the aircraft and all arrangements were made to minimize the physical strain to Gurudev’s body equipments.  Rev. Sri Gurudev had peaceful and blissful rest on  26th and 27th April 2001.  On the 28th evening, a public meeting was organised at the ashram's lawns.  H.E. Governor of Gujarat Sri Sunder Singh Bhandariji and Rev. Sri Gurudev both arrived on the dais, at 7.00 p.m. sharp. They were greeted by soft sahanai vadan.  Heaven was experienced in vocal and instrumental music of Mr. Jayvir Anjaria and members of his music group.  Smt. Monikaben Shah and Sri Krishnakantbhai Parikh brought immense joy to Sri Gurudev by singing heavenly soft and sweet songs in praise of Holy divine mother Sri Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi.

Sri Mukeshbhai Patel (Past President of Ahmedabad Management Association and Past President of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce) welcomed everyone and introduced the book " YOGA AND HEALTH" by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji. He said that because of untiring service of Rev. Sri Swamiji Maharaj, Gujarat in general and Ahmedabad in particular is becoming a Vatican of Yoga  and for that Gujarat is highly thankful to Rev. H.H. Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj for His is wonderful divine gift in the form of Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji to Gujarat from the DLS H.Q. Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh.

H.E. Governor of Gujarat Sri Sunder Singh Bhandariji released the book "YOGA AND HEALTH".  He said "For any achievement in life, one needs to have strict discipline.  Discipline is the foundation of YOGA.  It may be self-discipline, social discipline, physical discipline or mental discipline.  One should just be loyal and faithful to his own self and rest will follow.”   He expressed his deep feelings of joy to be in the midst of divine galaxy.

The Most Worshipful and Rev. Sri Gurudev released two books (1) What Becomes of the Soul (Gujarati) by Sri Swami Sivananda (2) Know Thy Self (Gujarati) by Sri Swami Satchidananda (Yogaville - Virginia).  He laughingly said,  "Ohji, nothing becomes or happen to the soul after death because soul has no birth or death!”  Rev. Sri Gurudev thanked Swami Adhyatmanandaji for granting this great occasion of having darshan of the grand gathering. Function ended with peace prayers.  Devotees gathered from all four corner of India simply overwhelmed and thrilled by the most august and auspicious atmosphere which was created by Sri Rev. Gurudev's holy presence.  Newly constructed Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan was illuminated and entire ashram was permeated with great inner peace and spiritual illumination. Revered Sri Gurudev was brought to dais in "PALAKHI" and was taken back to his residence in the same great honour.  Devotees should consider themselves fortunate to have personal darshan of Sri Gurudev.

29th April was the most auspicious day, a red letter day in the history of the Divine Life Society.  Sri Gurudev was brought to Sri Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan in a memorable ceremonial procession.  Purifying the path with Holy Ganges water, the temple priest was the first person to lead the procession.  Seven conch blowers followed the priest.  Offerings for the Holy Mother, Holy Master’s Paduka and "Sri YANTRA" were carried in the traditional way.  Two majestically decorated elephants leading the way of the Palkhi carrying Sri Gurudev brought joy to one and all. Sri Gurudev was welcomed by the mammoth gathering in the Bhavan with verities of traditional drums, Shahanai - Jaltarang etc.

Devotional singing by Smt Varshaben patel, Smt. Mayurika Oza, Sri Pandit Niraj Parikh, Smt. Monikaben's group and Sri RasBihari Desai's party created heavenly ambiance that left the indelible impressions on everyone. Sri Gurudev personally garlanded each deity and consecrated Holy "Sri Yantra", that moment was the sheer joy for the devotees and drew boundless applause.  Sri Gurudev honoured artisans, architects, contractors, sculptors and supervisors who took part in the building of the Bhavan. After this Sri Gurudev lead the silent Meditation in Swami Chidananda Meditation Temple. He lit the lamp and broke the silence by saying "Here you have to keep silence !!!".

Sri Gurudev left Ahmedabad on 29th, in the evening, leaving a great inner satisfaction of His divine presence and joy of holy darshan in everyone's heart. He was accorded the same dignified honour and care by taking Him to the airport in the ashram's car right up to the entrance of the AIRCRAFT.

In the holy presence of the most worshipful and revered Guru Maharaj Sri Swami Chidanandaji, Mangal Pravesh (Inauguration) of Sri Ashtalakshmi Bhavan and Sri Chidananda Dhyana Mandir was indeed a heavenly experience at the Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad.
