the mind. Here in lies freedom and bliss eternal.

<br>
"Waking up in the morning should not merely mean waking
up into this maya-bazaar, waking up into this temporary
world of pain and death. It should not only mean waking
up into this little, confined, outer earth awareness. It
should also simultaneously mean waking up into the
awareness of your divinity which has been temporarily
suspended in sleep. And keep up that inner wakefulness
along with your outer physical wakefulness of the senses
and the mind. Keep up the inner wakefulness of your
svarupa. That is the great thing needful. That is what
will make your life divine. That is what will take you,
day by day, higher and higher towards the Goal Supreme.
And this you have to do for yourself, with wisdom."<br>
<br>
"When you wake up in the morning, what do you wake up
to? When you come into a state of awareness, what is
that state of awareness? What is its level, what is its
plane, what is its content, what purpose does it serve?
Think deeply about it, and be a true jijnasu, a true
mumukshu, a true seeker, a true devotee of the Supreme.
Be a true part of Divinity, a true amsa of paramatma,
and make your life divine. This is the greatest way in
which you can bless yourself." - Swami Chidananda <a

On one occasion I went to Swamiji and told him that
with so many base thoughts I was unfit for the Ashram
life, and as such, I must be permitted to go back
home. To this Swamiji replied, "Because you have got
all these drawbacks you are eminently fit for the
Ashram life. When you are sick, what will you do? You
will go and consult a doctor, join the hospital, take
the prescribed medicine and follow the dietetic
restrictions. Once you join the Hospital, you must do
whatever the doctor says, and having faith in him, you
must completely free yourself from all worries and
anxieties. In a like manner, the moment you detect
such base thoughts in you, you must go to a Guru, take
his advice, do whatever he says and, above all, have
faith in him and surrender to him completely, and the
recovery is bound to follow."<br>

One day Dr. Raoji noticed a dog lying near the office
room of the Ashram. It was full of sores and worms. It
was clear that it had been in agony for some time. The
tender heart of Rao Swamiji bled at the pathetic
sight. He gave some medicines and injections and
dressed its affected parts with proper bandage and
slept near the dog tending it the whole night. When
the Ashramites saw this in the morning they were
simply dazed. Gurudev remarked that Rao Swamiji was
not a man but the very embodiment of compassion.<br>
