New Year Message ( January 2015) - by Swami Sivananda
On this glorious New Year’s day make a strong resolve to wipe away all
the old worldly Vasanas or tendencies and bad impressions and to control
the senses and the mind.
Know the value of time. Time is most precious. Utilise every second
profitably. Live every moment of your life for the realisation of your
ideal and goal. Do not procrastinate. That "tomorrow" will never come.
Now or never. Abandon idle gossiping. Kill egoism, laziness and inertia.
Forget the past. A glorious and brilliant future is awaiting you.
Equal vision is the touchstone of knowledge. Unselfishness is the
touchstone of virtue. Brahmacharya is the touchstone of ethics. Oneness
is the touchstone of Self-realisation. Humility is the touchstone of
devotion. Therefore, be unselfish, humble and pure. Develop equal
vision. Be in tune with the Infinite. -Swami Sivananda

Chidananda Darshan - through Life incidence of Guru Maharaj
Centenary Celebration Year of H. H. Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj (Sept 24,
2014 -Sept 2015)

"Tender Love For Tiny Creatures "

His cult of non-violence is extended even to the small irritating
insects like bugs and mosquitoes whom people kill almost by reflex
action and do not feel any qualms whatever. Swamiji endures their stings
and allows them to have their own way with his body. Once while he was
doing Kirtan of the Lord's Name, a disciple saw a mosquito sitting on
his body and attempted to drive it out. Before he could reach him
Swamijiindicated by sign not to disturb the creature. After the Kirtan
was over Swamiji told him, "The hungry one having appeased its hunger
goes away automatically; you need not drive it out."

There was an incident at Kotdwar. While Swamiji was giving his address a
poisonous insect flew towards him. Yogesh Bahugunaji, a devotee in his
company, at once attempted to drive it out. Swamiji, who was then
seriously engaged in making an important point, did not lose sight of
this. He signalled to Bahugunaji to leave the insect alone and continued
his talk. After sometime he took the insect tenderly and got it seated
on his palm, assuring it perfect, security, as it were. This is the
unique Brahmi Sthiti of the sage who in spite of all his busy schedule
in Vyavahara is constantly vigilant to observe Ahimsa and love for all
creatures at all times.

Yoga Learning through a book , " Yoga , A way of Life " of Swami
Adhyatmananda

HTML clipboard Primary Yogasana (Yoga Postures) - The Physical
techniques of Yoga are the stepping stones to meditation. According to
Patanjali, Yoga is the cessation of the modifications of the mind.
In the beginning the primary prerequisite to peace of mind is posture.
Yogasana practiced to gain steady posture, health and lightness in the
body. All Yoga postures are intended to directly or indirectly quiet the
mind. The majority of Asana have been devised to build up different
parts of the body and to develop the strength required by the more
advanced Physical disciplines. The purpose of the yogasana is to
recondition the system, both mind and body, and to develop the nervous
and glandular systems. The different Yoga postures have been devised to
bring a rich supply of blood to the brain and to the various parts of
the spinal column. The yogasana work by stretching, bending and twisting
the spinal column in different directions to promote the health of the
nerves. When the body is purified, Prana (vital energy) can be conserved
and the individual becomes healthy and conscious << More>>

Gitamrutam

The man attains peace, who, abandoning all desires, moves about without
longing, without the sense of mine and without egoism.(2:71)

He who is ever happy within, who rejoices within, who is illumined
within, such a Yogi attains absolute freedom or Moksha, himself becoming
Brahman.(5:24)

The sages obtain absolute freedom or Moksha—they whose sins have been
destroyed, whose dualities (perception of dualities or experience of the
pairs of opposites) are torn asunder, who are self-controlled, and
intent on the welfare of all beings.(5:25)

Those who strive for liberation from old age and death, taking refuge in
Me, realise in full that Brahman, the whole knowledge of the Self and
all action.(7:29)

Dwelling in solitude, eating but little, with speech, body and mind
subdued, always engaged in concentration and meditation, taking refuge
in dispassion, (18:52)

This is the Brahmic seat (eternal state), O son of Pritha! Attaining to
this, none is deluded. Being established therein, even at the end of
life one attains to oneness with Brahman.(2:72)
