*New Year Message - Sri Swami Sivananda*****
By the command of the Indestructible Being, minutes, hours, days and
nights, stand apart. By the command of the Immortal Brahman, months,
years, seasons and solstices stand apart. He who knows this
Indestructible Being is a liberated sage or Jivanmukta.
Time rolls on. New becomes old and old becomes new again. Today is the
most auspicious New Year?s day. God has given you another chance this
year to enable you to strive for your salvation. Today man is. Tomorrow
he is not. Therefore avail yourself of this golden opportunity, struggle
hard and reach the goal of life. Make the best use of every moment of
this New Year. Unfold all latent faculties. Here is a chance to begin
life anew, to grow and evolve and become a superhuman or a great dynamic
Yogi.
May this bright New Year?s day and all the succeeding days of this year
and all the future years also bring you all success, peace, prosperity
and happiness. May you all tread the path of Truth and righteousness!
May you enjoy the eternal bliss of the Absolute, leading a divine life,
singing Lord?s name, sharing what you have with others, serving the poor
and the sick with Atma Bhava and melting the mind in silent meditation
in the Supreme Self.- Swami Sivananda << More>>

**Cultivate Peace *
"Radiant Divinities! Beloved Atman! Cultivate /santi / (peace) within
your heart. Cultivate the habit of peace and serenity which is a
covetable possession, that is a positive force to take you towards your
supreme Goal. Cultivate /santi /in your mind and in your heart, for it
is a condition prerequisite for the inward process of bringing the mind
to rest upon the Eternal and the Divine. There can be no concentration
for one who does not cultivate the habit of peace. The Lord poses this
question in the Bhagavad Gita: ?/asantasya kutah sukham/??How can
happiness come to one who is not at peace??
The Supreme Reality, Atman-Brahman, is immeasurable peace, profound,
boundless, indescribable peace. The great transcendental experience of
your ancestors and of the supreme mystics of all times and climes is
that the Reality pervades everywhere, which means that peace fills all
existence. From their transcendental experience our ancestors declared
boldly that the Supreme Reality dwells in the core of your own heart.
One divine Reality dwells hidden in all beings, which means that peace
dwells within you permanently as the innermost center of your being.-

*Osteoporosis
*What Is Oseoporosis ? How Does the Osteoporosis Treated & Prevented?
Does Practice of Flexibility exercises & Yogasana help ? Which Yogasana
is recommended?
Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by the loss of the normal
density of bone, resulting in fragile bone. Osteoporosis leads to
literally abnormally porous bone that is more compressible like a
sponge, than dense like a brick. This disorder of the skeleton weakens
the bone causing an increase in the risk for breaking bones (bone fracture).
Here the importance of proper nutrition can't undermined. Regular
practice of flexibility exercises, Yogasana and Pranayama is essential
for prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis. <>

*Quotes of Swami Vivekananda
Vivekananda Jayanti ( Jan 12, 2012 )
*
* "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and everything shall be added
unto you." This is the one great duty, this is renunciation. Live
for an ideal, and leave no place in the mind for anything else. Let
us put forth all our energies to acquire that which never fails--our
spiritual perfection. If we have true yearning for realization, we
must struggle, and through struggle growth will come. We shall make
mistakes, but they may be angels unawares."
* "In this external world, which is full of finite things, it is
impossible to see and find the Infinite. The Infinite must be sought
in that alone which is infinite, and the only thing infinite about
us is that which is within us, our own soul. Neither the body, nor
the mind, nor even our thoughts, nor the world we see around us, is
infinite."
* "Do not go for glass beads leaving the mine of diamonds. This life
is a great chance. What, seekest thou the pleasures of the world? He
is the fountain of all bliss. See for the highest, aim at that
highest, and you shall reach the highest.
* "Realize your true nature. That is all there is to do. Know yourself
as you are?infinite spirit. That is practical religion. Everything
else is impractical, for everything else will perish."

*Lord Shiva Worship on auspicious Mahashivratri Festival ( Feb 20, 2012 )
by Sri Swami Sivananda*****
"The formal worship consists of bathing the Lord. Lord Shiva is
considered to be the Form of Light (which the Shiva Lingam represents).
He is burning with the fire of austerity. He is therefore best
propitiated with cool bathing. While bathing the Lingam the devotee
prays: ?O Lord! I will bathe Thee with water, milk, etc. Do Thou kindly
bathe me with the milk of wisdom. Do Thou kindly wash me of all my sins,
so that the fire of worldliness which is scorching me may be put out
once for all, so that I may be one with Thee?the One alone without a
second.?
"Offer this inner worship to Lord Shiva daily: ?I worship the jewel of
my Self, the Shiva residing in the Lotus of my heart. I bathe Him with
the water of my pure mind brought from the river of faith and devotion.
I worship Him with the fragrant flowers of Samadhi?all this so that I
may not be born again in this world.? Swami Sivananda<<*More*>>

Adhyatmananda*
Primary Yogasana (Yoga Postures) - The Physical techniques of Yoga are
the stepping stones to meditation. According to Patanjali, Yoga is the
cessation of the modifications of the mind.
In the beginning the primary prerequisite to peace of mind is posture.
Yogasana practiced to gain steady posture, health and lightness in the
body. All Yoga postures are intended to directly or indirectly quiet the
mind. The majority of Asana have been devised to build up different
parts of the body and to develop the strength required by the more
advanced Physical disciplines. The purpose of the yogasana is to
recondition the system, both mind and body, and to develop the nervous
and glandular systems. The different Yoga postures have been devised to
bring a rich supply of blood to the brain and to the various parts of
the spinal column. The yogasana work by stretching, bending and twisting
the spinal column in different directions to promote the health of the
nerves. When the body is purified, Prana (vital energy) can be conserved
and the individual becomes healthy and conscious. << More>>

Sadhana should be as much a part of your daily life as eating, drinking

Disharmony of thought, word and deed is the cause for all troubles,

Soak your life with remembrance of Lord. Dedicate your all to Him. See
Him in everyone.

*So Says Swami Sivananda*
Sadhana should be as much a part of your daily life as eating, drinking
and breathing.
Disharmony of thought, word and deed is the cause for all troubles,
miseries and quarrels in this world.
Soak your life with remembrance of Lord. Dedicate your all to Him. See
Him in everyone.
If any one proves to be faithless to you, be faithful to him always.
If you are truthful and pure in your daily life, you will inherit the
Kingdom of God.
Forget and forgive. You will have peace. You, will become divine.

*"Life Sketch of Lord Gauranga on Sri Chaitnaya Mahaprbhu Jayanti
(March 8, 2012) by Swami Sivananda*
"Gauranga was an embodiment of love. He lived, moved and had his being
in love. His speech was full of love. He radiated love to all. His touch
was a magnetism of love. He sang in love. He breathed in love. He walked
in love. He showed by practice how God should be loved. He taught little
by precept, but more by example. If he simply uttered one word, "You
will be blessed with Bhakti", it was quite sufficient to throw a man
into Samadhi and fill his heart with Prem (love). Such was Gauranga's
power.
When Gauranga passed along the streets and roads, his powerful Prem
current influenced and overpowered thousands. They uttered irresistibly
"Hari Bol! Hari Bol!" and danced in ecstasy"
Lord Gauranga said, "Listen Swaroopa and Ramananda Raj! The chanting of
Krishna's Name is the chief means of attaining Krishna's feet in the
Kali Yuga. Sankirtan of the Name is the supreme healer in the Iron Age.
Sankirtan tantamount to Vedic sacrifice. Sankirtan destroys sins and
purifies the heart and creates Bhakti. Chant the name while sitting,
standing, walking, eating, in bed and everywhere. The Name is
omnipotent. You can repeat the Name at any place, at any time.<< More>>
*"Holi"- A Spring Festival of Hope, Joy & New Life - Swami Sivananda
(March 9, 2012)*
"It begins about ten days before the full moon of the month Phalgun
(February-March), but is usually only observed for the last three or
four days, terminating with the full moon. This is the spring festival
of the Hindus. In the spring season all the trees are filled with
sweet-smelling flowers. They all proclaim the glory and everlasting
beauty of God. They inspire you with hope, joy and a new life, and stir
you on to find out the creator and the Indweller, who is hiding Himself
in these forms".
"Holi also means ?sacrifice?. Burn all the impurities of the mind, such
as egoism, vanity and lust, through the fire of devotion and knowledge.
Ignite cosmic love, mercy, generosity, selflessness, truthfulness and
purity through the fire of Yogic practice. This is the real spirit of
Holi. Rise from the mire of stupidity and absurdity and dive deep into
the ocean of divinity.
The call of Holi is to always keep ablaze the light of God-love shining
in your heart. Inner illumination is the real Holi. The spring season is
the manifestation of the Lord, according to the /Bhagavad Gita/. Holi is
said there to be His heart." <>

Sankirtan is the Svarupa (essential nature) of God. Dhvani is Sankirtan.
Sankirtan is the essence of the Vedas.
Sankirtan is singing God's name with Bhava, Prem or divine feeling.
There is infinite Sakti or power in the Lord's Names. /Nama/ and /Nami/

Sankirtan removes the impurities of the mind (Mala); it steadies the
mind and checks its tendency to vacillate (Vikshepa); and ultimately it
tears the veil of ignorance too (Avarana), and brings the Sadhaka

Sankirtan Yoga is the easiest, quickest, safest, cheapest and best way

** *"The Transcendental Divinity That Is Lord Rama"- Swami Sivananda
Sri Ramnavmi * * April 1, 2012 *
"The Name of Lord Rama is the greatest purifier of the heart. It wipes
away all one's sins. Not only this, but it wipes away the sinful
tendencies as well. The Name is sweeter than the sweetest of objects. It
is the haven of peace. It is the very life of pure souls. It is the
purifier of all purifying agencies. It quenches the consuming fire of
worldly desires. It awakens the knowledge of God. It bathes the aspirant
in the, ocean of divine bliss. Glory to Sri Rama and His Name!.......
None but the righteous can be truly happy. None but he who has the
correct sense of duty and the will for its implementation can be said to
live worthily. One must be imbued with a definite conviction about the
supremacy of moral principles, ethical values and spiritual ideals.
These ought to guide one's day-to-day actions and serve as powerful
means for the culture of the human personality. That is the purpose of
life. That is the way to Self-realisation. That is the message and the
mission of Lord Rama's Life on earth......- Swami Sivananda<< More>>
