The Necessity of Introspection</b><br>
"Radiant Immortal Atman! Beloved and blessed children of the Divine!
Scriptures and saints and those who have had their fingers burnt by
running after objects of the world continuously warn us to be cautious
in our dealings with the sense-objects of this world. For these
sense-objects are deceptive, they are endowed with a false glitter and
an indescribable power of deluding the mind, attracting it, enmeshing
it and then enslaving it"..........
<p class="MsoNormal">So we try to be careful, and if
sense-objects attract us we say “no.” We will use our will power, we
will use our discrimination. We will try to look into the defects of
these sense-objects and tell our mind, “O mind, do not be deluded, do
not be foolish; you will regret afterwards.” So we want to resist
temptations, we want strength. We pray: “Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.”<br>

introspect, do self-examination, try to find out what is within

<p><b>Pluck With Devotion </b><br>
Swamiji's consideration extends even to the world of plants. On the
Mahasivaratri Day when devotees in the Ashram go to collect "Bilva
Patra" for the worship of the Lord Siva, he advises them not to proceed
towards the tree with an upraised axe, for the tree would be terrified.
They are to approach the tree tenderly, even meekly, and beg for the
leaves, as it were. The plucking must be done with tenderness, love and
devotion</p>
<p><b>Tender Love For Tiny Creatures </b><br>
His cult of non-violence is extended even to the small irritating
insects like bugs and mosquitoes whom people kill almost by reflex
action and do not feel any qualms whatever. Swamiji endures their
stings and allows them to have their own way with his body. Once while
he was doing Kirtan of the Lord's Name, a disciple saw a mosquito
sitting on his body and attempted to drive it out. Before he could
reach him Swamiji indicated by sign not to disturb the creature. After
the Kirtan was over Swamiji told him, "The hungry one having appeased
its hunger goes away automatically; you need not drive it out." <br>

There was an incident at Kotdwar. While Swamiji was giving his
address
a poisonous insect flew towards him. Yogesh Bahugunaji, a devotee in
his company, at once attempted to drive it out. Swamiji, who was then
seriously engaged in making an important point, did not lose sight of
this. He signalled to Bahugunaji to leave the insect alone and
continued his talk. After sometime he took the insect tenderly and got
it seated on his palm, assuring it perfect, security, as it were. This
is the unique Brahmi Sthiti of the sage who in spite of all his busy
schedule in Vyavahara is constantly vigilant to observe Ahimsa and love
for all creatures at all times. </p>

<p>"This human birth is a rare chance, a splendid opportunity of
transcending all limitations, bondage, sorrow, suffering and pain and
attaining to a state of illimitable glory, of absolute freedom from
sorrow, pain, suffering, grief and weaknesses of all sorts, going
beyond even death and attaining that Supreme experience of illimitable
joy, immeasurable peace, Divine splendour and Wisdom Consciousness in
union with the Divine. This is the aim of our life. This life can be
had only by right living—a life of contemplation and meditation. Live
this life and attain God-realisation in this very life." </p>
<p>"Goodness is love in action. It is noble to be good. Goodness
is the greatest virtue. Every good deed is a grain of seed for
immortality or eternal life. Goodness makes life a blessing. Goodness
will bring sure success and prosperity. To be good is human. To be good
is divine."<br>
</p>
<p>"Kindly try and spend some time daily, even for a few minutes
in silent communion with the Lord. Think of His Divine attributes such
as boundless compassion, mercy and love. Pray to Him with deep
devotion. Seek His guidance and protection in all your daily affairs.
He will soon become your loving companion." </p>
