Key to Bliss - "Meditation on OM" from Mandukya Upnishad
The second quarter is the /Taijasa/ whose sphere or field or place is
dream, who is conscious of internal objects, who has seven limbs and
nineteen mouths and enjoys the subtle objects.
The second quarter is the /Taijasa/ whose sphere or field or place is
dream, who is conscious of internal objects, who has seven limbs and
nineteen mouths and enjoys the subtle objects.
During the dream, the mind creates various kinds of objects out of the
impressions produced by the experiences of the waking state. The mind
reproduces the whole of its waking life in dream through the force of
/Avidya/ (ignorance), Kama (desire and imagination) and Karma (action).
The mind is the perceiver and the mind itself is the perceived in the
dream. The mind creates the objects without the help of any external
means. It creates various curious, fantastic mixtures. You may witness
in the dream that you are flying in the air. You may see in the dream a
lion with the head of an elephant, a cow with the head of a dog. The
desires that are not satisfied during the waking state are gratified in
dream. Dream is a mysterious phenomenon. It is more interesting than the
waking state.
The microcosmic aspect of Atman in the subtle or mental state is called
/Taijasa/ and His macrocosmic aspect is known as /Hiranyagarbha/. Just
as /Virat/ is one with /Visva/ in the waking state, so also /Taijasa /is
one with /Hiranyagarbha/ in the dreaming state. - Swami Sivananda <<

Early Morning Meditation talks from "Ponder These Truths"
"Connect Yourself With GOD"
"You must keep in contact with the source of your being, be ever linked
and connected with the origin from which you are. Then, day by day, your
spirit will begin to unfold. It will grow, develop, progress, expand,
and you will attain divine experience. You will become divine."
"But when there is no connection, or you have alienated yourself from
It, or forgotten It, or thought of yourself as something independent,
then you are full of sorrow and anxiety, pain and suffering, misery and
fear. You are full of a sense of want. Why? Because you have unwisely
cut yourself off from the source of your being. The secret of a
progressive and fruitful life is to be inwardly ever linked with God,
linked with the Cosmic Being. If you neglect to do that, then your life
will be just what it is, always in a state of discontentment, dejection,
depression, dissatisfaction. All the negative things come to prevail, to
dominate and torment you, to pull you hither and thither. You feel
helpless, you weep and wail. You do not know what to do. You are in
despair."
"So remember, separation from God is the root cause of all human
miseries, the center of the human problem. That itself causes bondage.
Put an end to this alienation and separation by Yoga, by bhakti, by
jnana, by enquiry, by discrimination, by sadhana. Seriously strive after
that supreme state of being constantly in a state of oneness, attunement
with the Supreme and overcome the sorrows of /samsara/. Banish the
darkness of ignorance and bondage and come into the light of supreme
divine wisdom. That is the wise way. Do it now and become blessed. God
bless you with success in your sadhana! Gurudev grant you ultimate
fulfillment of your aspiration and your desire!" - Swami Chidananda<<

Learning of "Jeevan Yog" from a Yoga Acharya Sri Swami Adhyatmananda
Through TV episodes of "Jeevan Yoga" Serie
<http://divyajivan.org/Jeevan%20Yoga/Index.htm>s by Doordarshan Girnar
Surya Namaskara or Sun Salutation ("salute to the sun"), is a common
sequence of Hatha Yoga asanas. Its origins lie in a worship of Surya,
the Hindu Solar deity. This sequence of movements and poses can be
practiced on varying levels of awareness, ranging from that of physical
exercise in various styles, to a complete sadhana, which incorporates
asana, pranayama, mantra and chakra meditation.
The physical base of the practice links together twelve asanas in a
dynamically performed series. These asanas are ordered so that they
alternately stretch the spine backwards and forwards. When performed in
the usual way, each asana is moved into with alternate inhalation and
exhalation (except for the sixth asana where the breath is held in
external suspension). A full round of Surya namaskara is considered to
be two sets of the twelve poses with a change in the second set to
moving the opposite leg first through the series.<< More>>

Parables of Sri Swami Sivananda
Parable of The Boy Who Watered The Root
A father wanted to test the intelligence of his two sons. He allotted to
each of them the task of looking after a mango tree, promising to reward
the boy whose tree yielded the best fruit in abundance. The foolish boy
discovered that the leaves were withering off and that flowers were
coming up at the end of the branches. Promptly he went up the tree and
carefully watered every leaf. The leaves withered still more and the
tree eventually died. The wise boy, on the other hand, went on watering
the root; the tree was green and healthy and yielded delicious fruits in
abundance.
Similarly, God gives human birth to man in order to test the evolution
of his intelligence. The foolish man, eager to get the reward of Eternal
Peace and Immortality, seeks to pay attention to the satisfaction of his
sense-cravings, and to the acquisition of worldly knowledge, for he
thinks that it is the right way. He dies the miserable death of an
ignorant man. The wise man, on the contrary, devotes himself to the
contemplation of God, the Root of all Creation, and thus obtains all the
wealth and knowledge of the universe. God is well pleased with him and
bestows upon him the reward of Immortality and Eternal Bliss.
