On the subject of  "Guru Mahima" on auspicious Gurupaurnima ( July 16, 
2019)

"The Sadguru is Brahman Himself. He is an ocean of bliss, knowledge, and 
mercy. He is the captain of your soul. He is the fountain of joy. He 
removes all your troubles, sorrows, and obstacles. He shows you the 
right divine path."

"Guru is God. A word from him is a word from God. He need not-teach 
anything. Even his presence or company is elevating, inspiring, and 
stirring, His very company is self-illumination. Living in his company 
is spiritual education."

"Guru is the Moksha-dvara (door to liberation). He is the gateway to the 
transcendental Truth-Consciousness. But, it is the aspirant who has to 
enter through it. The, Guru is a help, but the actual task of practical 
Sadhana (spiritual practice) falls on the aspirant himself."

Thus the sun is the awakener; the sun is the enlightener; the sun is the 
marga darsaka (one who shows the path).  It is the sun that guarantees 
smooth, unhampered progress towards each one’s destination. When the sun

"Glory to Guru"  by Swami Adhyatmananda

"Gurupurnima is the day for worshipping the GURU. The Guru is a Master, 
but He never makes His disciple a slave. Entire mission of Guru is to 
turn His disciple into none else but great Guru only. The Guru says 
“AHAM BRAHMASMI”, I’m Brahman. But never the less “TAT TWAM ASI” you are 
that only. This purnima is a full moon day. When there is no hindrance 
between sun and moon, this  moon shines in its full bloom likewise when 
disciple totally surrenders to His Guru, he too shines with Brahma 
Vidya. Brahma Vidya is knowledge of Absolute. Brahma Vidya is the 
highest knowledge after knowing that nothing remains to be known. It is 
the grace of Guru upon his beloved disciple that after having received 
Brahma Vidya, disciple has not to strive for any more gain. He becomes 
full; he becomes contented, he rejoices supreme BLISS. He dives deep in 
the eternity and divinity."

A Guru is the God on earth. To him, the whole world is a mere straw. To 
him, gold and stone are alike. To him, pleasure and pain are the same.  
A Guru lives in God. He has realized God. He knows God. He has become 
God. He speaks of God. He shows the way to God. He is God intoxicated. 
He is God Himself. He is one with God. The Guru is God’s messenger on 
earth. The God reveals Himself in a Guru in His full glory, infinite 
power, wisdom and bliss.

The Guru constitutes a ladder for the pilgrims to the shrine of God. 
Wherever the Guru stays even for a half a second, that place becomes 
sacred place like Varanasi, Prayag or Brindavan.

To experience the Guru’s Grace, one must see Guru as a supreme being, 
supra-ultra divinity, the manifestation of the Absolute Brahman and see 
his presence at all times, in all places and in all conditions and act 
accordingly is the real Guru Worship on the sacred occasion of Guru

Q & A on Spiritual Life and Sadhana from “May I Answer That?”- by Holy 
Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj.

Why does not the benevolent, kind and all-merciful God help the 
righteous man and give him happiness? Why does He leave him to the 
mercies of his Purva Karma?

Karma is likened to the wheel. It has to work out; because the force 
that set it in motion has to be spent. It is a cycle of action and 
reaction. Just as the arrow once discharged from the bow cannot be 
withdrawn, even if the hunter feels that he has aimed at a wrong target, 
Prarabdha Karma, the fruit of those Karmas performed in previous births 
that have come up for experience in this present birth, cannot be annulled.

How then does God help His devotee? The all-merciful God does help His 
devotee by strengthening his will-power, his power of endurance, to bear 
the Karma-Phala with a cheerful countenance. The devotee is certainly 
not left to the mercy of his Purva Karma; he is beautifully clothed in 
the protective shield of His grace. Just as in the worst winter and 
violent storm, you remain unaffected in your own house and in your warm 
clothing, the devotee (though to the onlookers he is poor, sick or 
suffering) does not feel that he is suffering at all and is ever happy 
and blissful in His remembrance.
