June 1, 2015 Marks Sannyasa Diksha day of Holy Master Swami Sivananadaji
Maharaj.

"Sannyasa, Path to Blessedness".

"Worshipful and Revered Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj’s
Sannyasin life was most ideal and exemplary model to the Sannyasin of
present era. His was the great Sannyasa. He experienced Brahman
everywhere, in everything, at all times and in all conditions. Gurudev
was unique in own-self and core to the renunciation; Sivananda Ashram
kept on expanding and number of buildings started springing up but
Gurudev never left His small cowshed where He spent His whole life in
pursuing His spiritual Sadhana. His was the wonderful and ideal life.
His life is worth knowing. If, possible it is worth practicing." -Swami
Adhyatmananda "<< More>> <http://divyajivan.org/adhyatmananda/index.htm>

Modern St. Francis Assisi
Through his living experience, he has blended the glorious Christian
truths with the ancient ones expressed in the Indian scriptures, thus
demonstrating that all is one. An example of this living synthesis is
the fact that when he tours in the West, garbed in the ochre robes
characteristic of the traditional Swami order, many hearts respond to
him, because of his humility and universal love for all living things,
as to a modern St. Francis of Assisi.
The secret of his personal magnetism lies in the utter simplicity of his
nature, in his firm faith in God and man and in his own Guru and in his
deep sense of service and sacrifice.

  "Veternary Doctor"
One day Dr. Raoji noticed a dog lying near the office room of the
Ashram. It was full of sores and worms. It was clear that it had been in
agony for some time. The tender heart of Rao Swamiji bled at the
pathetic sight. He gave some medicines and injections and dressed its
affected parts with proper bandage and slept near the dog tending it the
whole night. When the Ashramites saw this in the morning they were
simply dazed. Gurudev remarked that Rao Swamiji was not a man but the
very embodiment of compassion.

Yoga Learning from a book "Yoga, A way of life" by Sri Swami Adhyatmananda

Primary & Main Yogasana (Yoga Postures)
The Physical techniques of Yoga are the stepping stones to meditation.
According to Patanjali, Yoga is the cessation of the modifications of
the mind.

In the beginning the primary prerequisite to peace of mind is posture.
Yogasana practiced to gain steady posture, health and lightness in the
body. All Yoga postures are intended to directly or indirectly quiet the
mind. The majority of Asana have been devised to build up different
parts of the body and to develop the strength required by the more
advanced Physical disciplines. The purpose of the yogasana is to
recondition the system, both mind and body, and to develop the nervous
and glandular systems. The different Yoga postures have been devised to
bring a rich supply of blood to the brain and to the various parts of
the spinal column. The yogasana work by stretching, bending and twisting
the spinal column in different directions to promote the health of the
nerves. When the body is purified, Prana (vital energy) can be conserved
and the individual becomes healthy and conscious. << More>>

Gitamrutam

The sages understand Sannyas to be the renunciation of action with
desire; the wise declare the abandonment of the fruits of all actions as
Tyaga. ( 18:2)

Acts of sacrifice, gift and austerity should not be abandoned, but
should be performed; sacrifice, gift and also austerity are the
purifiers of the wise. (18:5)

The man of renunciation, pervaded by purity, intelligent and with his
doubts cut asunder, does not hate a disagreeable work nor is he attached
to an agreeable one. (18:10)

Verily, it is not possible for an embodied being to abandon actions
entirely; but he who relinquishes the rewards of actions is verily
called a man of renunciation. (18:11)
