Jesus Christ taught His followers to live in the image and likeness of God, in silence, harmony, and love. He offered them the example of His life. Jesus Christ taught with sermons and parables. The greatest sermon of Jesus Christ contains the Lord's prayer and practical advice for Good living.

Jesus laid emphasis on loving one another so much that he asked for it to be made into a commandment. He said to his disciples,

“You shall love the Lord your God
with your whole heart,
with your whole soul,
and with your whole mind.
This is the greatest and first commandment.”

The second is like it, “you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” On these two commandments the whole law is based, and the prophets as well.

He said that hatred, vengeance and all other negative vibes don’t bring us any gain instead they act as impurities in our hearts. Jesus, himself, always welcomed and embraced the sinners, the despised and the harlots and purified them. He comforted them and gave them solace and peace. He raised the fallen. He brought relief and rest to the broken-hearted. He said that for the existence of a peaceful environment one must learn to be merciful to his oppressors.

Besides laying emphasis on loving, caring and forgiving each other, he said that one should do all these noble acts without expecting anything in return because all these  should come from within person’s heart and not for fame or for the desire of standing out from the crowd, and if one does all these, he will reap his reward in heaven. He also said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive. Give thy heart's best treasures. Give thy love and ask not. Await not a return. And the more thou spent from thy little store, the more will God give thee.

The need for repentance or a change of heart is essential for entry into the Kingdom of God. Bury the dead. “The Kingdom of God is within thee. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto thee." He asked everyone to not only love and not hurt each other but to go beyond that and do Good to others. Love your enemies; pray for those who persecute you; so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. Do good to those who hate you. If your enemy is hungry, feed him; Give drink to the thirsty. Clothe the naked. Shelter the homeless. Visit the sick. Visit the imprisoned. Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good

Jesus recommended prayer as a means to acquire the blessings of the Almighty. He also preached ahimsa i.e. the practice of non-violence. He said, “Thou shalt not kill and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.” Jesus prescribed these golden rules for his followers and the world at large. He believed that, non-violence, kindness, forgiveness, love and tolerance are the foundation stones on which a prosperous and healthy society should be built.
