Key to Bliss - "Meditation on OM" from Mandukya Upnishad by Swami Sivananda

The first part "A" is Vaisvanara whose sphere is the condition of waking, on account of all-pervasiveness, or on account of being the first. He who knows this obtains verily all desires and becomes the first."

As the word Om represents the Atman, so the Matras of Om represent respectively the different conditions in which the Atman manifests itself. Matra "A" represents Vaisvanara, the first condition. Have the symbol "A" before you and meditate on Vaisvanara till you identify yourself with the object of meditation. Just as "A" pervades in all the letters of the alphabet, so also Vaisvanara pervades all things of the universe. Just as "A"  is the first letter in "AUM",  so also Vaisvanara is the first condition of the Atman.......Sruti says, "The letter "A" is the whole of speech." All sounds are pervaded by "A". In the Bhagavad Gita you will find "Aksharanam Akarosmi-of letters the letter "A" I am"( Bhagawad Git Chapter X:33)......

Just as "A" is the first letter in "AUM," just as "A" is the first of all sounds and letters, so also the waking state is the first of the three states. You can derive the knowledge of the other states from the waking state. The experiences of the three states form the whole experience of the universe. Therefore, the waking state pervades the whole universe........... He who knows it has all his desires fulfilled. He becomes the first among the great. He becomes the first of all.<< Read More>>

"Mahatma Gandhiji - The Pattern of a Perfect Life" by Swami Sivananda
on the occasion of "Gandhi Jayanti" (October 2, 2020)

"Mahatma Gandhiji’s life is a monument to the triumph of spirit over flesh, a living witness to the victory of the divine over the base nature of man. A continuous exercise of self-restraint and discipline, along with deep prayer and an invincible faith in the Divine, enabled him to successfully resist all kinds of temptations, overcome all obstacles and gain full mastery over himself.".... "Mahatma Gandhiji demonstrated how a life of complete detachment and renunciation may be led while remaining in the thick of battle. His was a supreme example of one who had completely annihilated the ego, the little "I", and led a divine life in the world. His life was like that of a lotus leaf in water."

"May the Mahatma’s light of love illuminate the hearts of nations and individuals! May his dream of world unity materialise this very day! May his spirit bless us all with the vision and strength to realise in our everyday life all his lofty ideals of truth, purity, non-violence and faith in the Divine".  - Swami Sivananda <<  Read More>>

Durga Puja - a festival of Devi Worship during sacred Navaratri (October 17, 2020 - Oct 26, 2020)

Devi worship is, worship of God’s glory, of God’s greatness and supremacy. It is adoration of the Almighty. The worship of Devi, the universal Mother, leads to the attainment of knowledge of the Self. Sakti is all. She can do anything. She can make or mar. She can mend or end. For the sake of the continuance of Her Divine Play here, She Herself, as Avidya-Maya, has veiled the Truth from you and bound you to this Samsara. When She is propitiated through the practice of sincere devotion and unconditional self-surrender, She, as Vidya-Maya, removes the veil and enables you to perceive the Truth.

No one can free himself from the thralldom of mind and matter without Mother’s grace. The fetters of Maya are too hard to break. If you worship Her as the great Mother, you can very easily go beyond Prakriti through Her benign grace and blessings. She will remove all obstacles in the path, and lead you safely into the illimitable domain of eternal bliss, and make you absolutely free - Swami Sivananda  <<  Read More>>

Early Morning Meditation talks from "Ponder These Truths" by Swami Chidananda

  The Peace Within

"The peace of the Supreme Being is within every human individual. This peace that passeth understanding, this peace that is supreme, higher than which there is nothing, which is profound peace, perennial peace, is the truth about your inner Self. It is the one real thing within amidst a thousand miscellaneous thoughts being allowed to flit and fill the mind, being allowed to agitate and disperse the mind"......

"You are that peace if you establish your identity with that peace instead of with the numerous other fancies and thoughts that come into your mind. Be as you are. And this peace overcomes time. For this peace there is no past, there is no present, there is no future. It is always. It is here, now, and it is for all times. It is beyond time—this peace which is your truth.".........Swami Chidananda  << Read More>>

Learning of  "Jeevan Yog" from a Yoga Acharya Sri Swami Adhyatmananda
Through TV episodes of "Jeevan Yoga" Series by Doordarshan Girnar

OMKAR - "Omkar Sadhana is the Prana of Spiritual Sadhana. Omkar is the best Pranayam."

"The practice of Omkar helps the seekers of Meditation to concentrate the mind. There is a great contribution of Omkar to lead the mind on the spiritual path."..........."The practice of Omkar destroys Tamasik thoughts and converts the Rajasik thoughts into Sattvik thoughts.

"In one minute, chanting of OMKAR should be done four times that will make one Omkar chant in fifteen seconds. In the beginning, start Omkar chanting for five minutes and gradually increase it to twenty minutes in the morning after waking up. Because during each Omkar you get extra oxygen for eleven seconds in comparison to regular breathing; so within five minutes, you will get extra oxygen for 220 seconds. If you practice Omkar chanting three times a day in the morning, afternoon, and evening (each for fifteen minutes) then you will get extra oxygen for 33 minutes in a day. The purification of blood occurs through the lungs. The brightness of the eyes, the beauty of the face, the shining of the skin, hearing and breathing capacity, speech, digestion power, as well as our nervous system, will function systematically. Our liver, kidneys, pancreas, intestine, adrenal glands, spleen, bladder, the vital organs like the cerebrum, cerebellum, pituitary gland, heart, lungs etc. will function systematically and properly due to the extra oxygenation through the purification of blood in the Lungs...... So, the key to good health, long life, and balanced life is the regular practice of Omkar. -Swami Adhyatmananda  << Read More>> / Jeevan Yoga (episode 77 & 78 )

Mahatma Gandhiji on Truth (Satyam) & Nonviolence (Ahimsa)  : "Search for truth is search for God. Truth is God..... God is because Truth is..... God alone is truth and everything else is transitory and illusory.....Though God may be Love, God is Truth above all..... Truth is what the voice within tells you.....Truth alone will endure, all the rest will swept away before the tide of time.....Truth should be so humble that even the dust could crush him.....Truth without humility would be an arrogant caricature.....If you would swim on the bosom of the ocean of Truth, you must reduce yourself to a zero.....The quest of Truth involves tapas, self-suffering, sometimes even unto death.....Truth is the first to be sought for, and Beauty and Goodness will then be added unto you.....Truth is like a vast tree which yields more and more fruit the more you nurture it."

"Ahimsa is the highest ideal. It is meant for the brave, never for the cowardly.....Ahimsa is the eradication of the desire to injure or to kill.....Ahimsa is not a matter of mere dietetics: it transcends it.....Ahimsa is the highest duty. Even if we cannot practice it in full, we must try to understand its spirit and refrain as far as is humanly possible from violence.....Ahimsa means infinite love, which again means infinite capacity for suffering."
