Services

The Sivananda Ashram is very active in providing the services to the  poor and the sick in the society.  "Manav Seva,  Madhav Seva" has been the guiding principle for whoever has been associated and working at the ashram. The Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj used to take the great pleasure in serving one and all and the tradition continues.

 

 Project Manav Seva is an extensive program  that focuses on holistically helping the needy and indigent population. Project Manav Seva has been carried out by the Bhagwan Shri Vishwanath Mahadev Seva Kendra, Sivanand Ashram, Ahmedabad for over fifteen years and continues to grow by leaps and bounds in the advancement of current programs which address the alleviation of human suffering. The ultimate goal of this program is to further spiritual growth for both those served and those providing service while simultaneously making a difference in people’s lives. 

Three times/ month nutritious full meal are being served to the children in the slum area of the town through Narayana seva project run by the Ashram. 

Sivananda Ashram, Ahemdavad has taken up the Project READ  (Rural Educational Aid Distribution) for underprivileged & needy children of Rural area of Gujarat. It is an extensive program running in its sixth year that focuses on providing educational aid to the under served Children in the form of distributing Slates, Black boards, chalk, Chalk Eraser pads to junior grade students ( of 1st through 4th grade) and notebooks of 150 & 200 pages to higher grade students ( of 5th through 12th grade).   

 

This year one lakh and ten thousands exercise note books were printed and distributed at the start of new school year in first week of June to the under privileged school going children in the Tribal areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan Border. Sri Sanjaybhai Patel & Smt. Poonamben Thawani are doing wonderful work in coordinating, funding, printing & distributing for this project. Also, many thanks to the selfless workers at various centers who goes to schools and make it possible to reach to the needy children.

 

The continuation of such comprehensive programs has been possible only because of the unstinting devotion and generous financial assistance provided by selfless devotees of the Lord.

Yoga Through ( SIVA) Sivananda institutes of Yoga-Vedanta Academy

At Ashram regular Yoga classes in seven batches for beginners and advanced yoga students carried out this month, as usual.

Sivananda Clinic at the Ashram: Dr.Snehal Amin’s consultation on how to cure diseases by yogic science continues and number of patients who got benefited increasing day by day.

 Many devotees participated in regular religious worships at the Ashram namely Guru Paduka Pooja on Thursday, a special evening worship at Sri Ashtalaksmi Bhavan on Friday, Sri Sunderkand Path on Saturday, a special Satsang on Sunday and daily night satsangs. Also Sri Lalita Sahasranam at Sri Ashtalakshmi Bhavan and Sri Satyanarayan pooja on full Moon day were performed.

Spiritual Retreat ( May 31, 2014 – June 3, 2014 ) Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh organized Spiritual Retreat of South Gujarat under the guidance pf  Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Fifty eight spiritual seekers from Saurashtra, North Gujarat, South Gujarat, Ahmedabad joined this Retreat at  seashore of Tithal, Shanti Mandir, H H. Mahamandaleshwar Srimat Swami Nityanandaji Maharajis a spiritual head of the Institute. Brahma Muhurta Prayer, Mid-day, afternoon and night Satsang were organized. People had peaceful and blissful experience.

Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh, Valsad organized one public meeting of Rev. Sri Swami  Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj where he spoke at the length on the subject  of  ‘Our moral duty in the present scenario of the Nation ".  It was attended by elite group of Valsad. 

 Satsang was organized at Sri Shirdi Sai Baba temple, at the Jain Monk Bandhu Triputi’s Ashram Shanti Niketan, at famous Country Resort, at the Mango Orchard of Sri Yagnesh Desai at Chanvai and at Srimad Rajchandra Ashram, Dharampur. 

On June 12, 2014 was 16^th day (Shodsi) day of passing away of  late Sri Swami Ganganandaji Maharaj, one of the member of Sivananda family, here at the ashram. About 300 children were fed healthy and rich food in the slum area of Ahmedabad. 

Chariot Festival (Ratha Yatra) of the Lord Jagannatha at the Ashram ( June 29, 2014 )

At our ashram, we had a graceful Ratha Yatra on June 29 2014 . The Idols of Lord Sri Jagannatha, brother Balaramji & sister Subhadraji were adorned splendidly after ceremoniously worshipped by temple priest. Then the idols were  mounted on the silver thrown in decorated chariot and brought out for the procession. It was a joyous occasion for all. Devotees were singing and dancing in the praise of the Lord. Devotees present on the occasion experienced the Divine Presence of the Lord. And prasad of Malpooah and Doodhpak, sprouted moong and jamun was offered to the Lord and more than thousand devotees were served prasad.

The significance of Chariot Festival as per Vedic scriptures is that anyone who sees Lord Jagannatha or pulls His chariots earns an immense spiritual benefits. By His supreme potency, the Lord agrees to personally enter the form of Deity, just to accept the loving service of His devotees. In this sense the Deity is non-different from the Lord Himself. And once a year Lord Jagannatha comes forth in His entire magnificent splendor to enjoy the Ratha-yatra parade and show Himself to all.

Pujya Swami Adhyatmannsdaji's satsang & Tours during the Month of June 2014

Anand ( June 8, 2014 ) Honoring generous invitation from Mr. Brijesh Parikh, President Rotary Club, Anand Round Town R.I. Dist:3060, Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji graced the Rotary function. Function was organized at Sardar Patel Memorial Auditorium, Karamsad. "Charotar Ratna" and "Sri Vithalbhai Saheb Shikshan Ratna" award were presented to honor Dr. Mohanbhai Patel and to honor Mr. Vipinchandra P. Pandya by the worthy hands of Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji.  District Rotary Governor Sri Dinesh Singh Thakor was the guest of honor.

 In his key note address Revered Swamiji spoke about "Selfless Service". "Serve and love, Serve Selflessly, Breathe to serve. Do not give up any opportunity of service. Serve all. Serve with all sincerity. Serve with full of heart. Love to serve. This is the way to Purify the Self, and to abide in the Absolute", was the essence of the talk..

Bhavnagar (June 10, 2014) A group of devotees lead by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj visited Bhavnagar for a day long visit. Trustee of H.Q. of the Divine Life Society Sri Swami Tyagvairagyanandaji Maharaj, who is a President of Sivananda Ashram, Bhavnagar had met with accident and was operated twice on the hip joint and habd joint. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji was concern about his health and went to Bhavnagar. At the same time Swamiji visited two trustees of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh, Dr. Ashok Baxi and Dr. Naren Joshi Kaka also at Bhavnagar.
