With the Grace and Blessings of the God Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandji Maharaj and Gurumaharaj Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj Spiritual & Yoga activities are flourishing at Sivananda Ashram, A’bad. More & more people, inspired by Spiritual head of the ashram, Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj are involving themselves in selfless services carried out through Ashram’s Seva Projects.
"Project READ" (Rural Educational Aid Distribution): Ashram has taken up the Project READ for underprivileged & needy children of Rural area of Gujarat. It is an extensive program running in its fifth year that focuses on providing educational aid to the underserved Children. Last year about 75,000 notebooks, 4500 Slates & 300 Blackboards were distributed free. This year about one lakh notebooks have been planned to be distributed free through various centers of Divya Jivan Sanskrutik Sang of Gujarat. Sri Arunbhai Oza, (Vice president of the asharm) and his team are doing wonderful work in coordinating, distributing and funding for this project.
"Project Manav Seva":. Project Manav Seva is an extensive program that focuses on holistically helping the needy and indigent population. Through Ashram’s Annapurna center feeding to poor children in under privileged area of the town get carried out regularly. Free nutrition programs, including monthly distributing grains to the needy families, and more such services have been carried out by the Bhagwan Shri Vishwanath Mahadev Seva Kendra, Sivanand Ashram, Ahmedabad for the last fifteen years. Countless people are being served through Sivananda clinic run at the Ashram.
The ultimate goal of the Seva projects is to further spiritual growth for both those served and those providing service while simultaneously making a difference in people’s lives.The continuation of such comprehensive programs has been possible only because of the unstinting devotion and generous financial assistance provided by selfless devotees of the Lord from the East & the West.
Daily worship services at Lord Vishvanath Temple and at Sri Sri Maa Ashtalakshmi Bhavan create Divine Vibrations at the Ashram. Prayers & Meditation at Sri Chidananda Dhyan Mandir bring peace & joy to countless Sadhakas. Daily Evening Satsang (9.00pm –9.45pm), Sunday satsang (8.30 am -10.00 am) and ‘Paduka Pujan' on Thursday, Satyanarayan Puja on Purnima day, Gayatri Yajana on first Sunday, Lalita Shashra Nama & Yoga activities: all these have made Sivananda Ashram a pilgrimage place (Yatra Dham) in the midst of busy & noisy city life.
News from SIVA yoga center: 26th YTTC ( Jan 30, 2012 – Feb 19, 2012) - A YTTC has been organized for a special group of twenty eight advanced Yoga students from Taiwan. It has started from Jan 30, 2012 and will continue till Feb 19, 2012
Shankha Prakshalan Kirya (total cleansing of intestine) was organized at Sivananda Ashram twice this month, on Jan 8, 2012 for only Yoga teachers ( 30 took part), on Jan 22, 2012 for general public,( 60 people took part) in this Yoga kriya. Yoga Teacher Ms.Sangeeta Thawani coordinated this activity.
Independence day celebration (Jan 26, 2012) Independence Day was celebrated by hoisting the Indian National Flag by Dr. H. S Vaishnav, a well known Anesthetic from Baroda. He is 75 years old, a real Karma Yogi. National Anthem was sung by all and Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji addressed the gathering. Also, Sri Swamiji was invited at Sri Satya Sai Vidya Mandir for flag hoisting and prize distribution program.
Brahmotsav of Hanuman Temple (Jan 26, 2012) "Maruti Yajana" was performed to mark the Brahmotsav of Holy Sri Hanuman Temple and Mahaprasad was served to all the devotees. Also Sri Sunderkand Parayan by Sri Ajay Yajnikji of Delhi was organized on this occasion. Everybody enjoyed his melodious singing in praise of Lord Sri Rama.
On Jan 29, 2012 Elocution competition was held at Sivananda Ashram. Twenty two students from thirteen colleges Ahmedabad took part. Ms. Sharifa Pathan from H. K Arts college, won the first price. Dr. Niranjana.S.Vora, Dr. Harish Dwivedi and Smt. Smita Dave (Principal, CN.Vidyalaya) have offered their valuable services as referees in this program..
All Religion Prayer Meeting (Jan 30, 2012) On Jan 30th Pujya Bapuji, Mahatma Gandhiji's Punya Tithi, "All Religion Prayer Meeting" was held at Gandhi Ashram, A'bad. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji led the prayers with other religious head.
At night on Jan 30, 2012, a dance ballet was staged at Sivananda Ashramlawn garden by J.G. School of performing arts and Upasana school of Indian classical music. Engineer Mr. Bijoy Shivaram, director of these schools thanked Revered Swamiji for providing opportunity to perform this wonderful dance drama. It has been played in Europe, UK, Japan, Germany also.

Ahmedabad: The New Year 2012 commenced with large number of tree plantation at Zydus Research centre, Ahmedabad on Jan 5, 2012 . Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji addressed a large number of research scholars and scientists at Zydus. Sri Swmaiji brought spot light on the science of the soul, journey from external to internal and eternal. Revered Swamiji enlightened all of them for the higher values of life. Director of the Zydus greeted Revered Swamiji and thanked him for coming.
Jamnagar: On Jan 6, 2012 Bhavans College for women invited Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj for Sri A. K. Doshi memorial lecture. “Situation of modern education and its values in modern life” was the subject and Sri Swamiji Maharaj poured his immense knowledge on the subject and elevated all the listeners. After tree plantation and Satsang at Dr. H. G Tanna’s hospital Sri Swamiji went to Dwaraka.
Dwaraka : Sri Swamiji and a group of devotees had a darshan of Lord Krishna. They all attended a special festivity at the Dwarkadhish temple. Devotees felt fortunate to have such pilgrimage in holy company of Pujya Swamiji. Sri Swamiji paid his respect to Sri Moolshankar Dave, Principal of primary school where he studied 60 years ago.
Shasan Gir & Somnath: The group at late night, arrived at Shasan Gir for Gir Lion Safari. At mid night they have witnessed haunting of wild boar by lions and feeding her kids They all had gala time. On Jan 7 th the group with Swamiji went to Veraval and had darshan at Sri Somnath Temple.
Mogri: On Jan 9,2012 Sri Swamiji Maharaj went to Mogri for pre platinum jubilee function of Revered Sahebji.
Gandhinagar ( Jan 11 & 12, 2012 ): Swami Vivekananda Jayanti Celebration at Gandhinagar was a great festivity on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary. Sri Swami Maharaj was invited at Gandhinagar, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalamji,( Ex.President of India), H. E. Chief Minister of Gujarat and other ministers, dignitaries and 11,000 students and youth community from all over the Gujarat attended the festivity.
Khedbrahma: Annual Makara Sankranti was celebrated by the divine life society Khedbrahma branch by cow worship (Gou Pooja) and cow feeding. About 500 cows were fed for seven days at Ramnagar Kampa of Brahmleen Sri Gurukripanandaji Maharaj.
Hyderabad (Jan 14- Jan 16, 2012): On Jan 14, 2012 Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj arrived in the evening. Sri Swamiji Maharaj directly went to attend devotional music festival which continueduntil late night up to 1:00 am –other than family function of Sri Virsukhbhai Shah, Revered Swamiji addressed the Satsang at Andhra Pradesh Divine life Society, Secunderabad, steel pipe factory Hyderabad and Revered Ramdasji Maharaj’s satsang at Mujirabad. On Jan 6th Swamiji addressed a large group of business class upon the various aspect of expansion and strengthening of business at Jade-Blue, Hyderabad.
On Jan 19, 2012 Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj visited Sri Saheb Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, Pramukh, Bohra community. Swamiji Maharaj offered condolences to Shahzada Huzefa Bhaisaheb Mohyuddin’s Elevated soul and also met the Syedna’s heir Syedi Mufaddal Bhaisaheb Saifuddin and other members of the bereaved family to express his heartfelt condolences. He prayed for giving strength to the community to overcome grief.
On Jan 20, 2012 Pujya Swamiji visited Bharati Yoga Udhyan. It has been founded by Smt. Bharatiben Soni, who learnt yoga from Sri Swamiji Maharaj in 1992. Since 1994 she has established Yoga center and preaching yoga science to others. More than one hundred women visit her yoga center every day and learn Sivananda Yoga free. Revered Swamiji talked about the concept of most practical "Parivarik Yoga", living Yoga in your daily life, bring mutual love, harmony and peace in the family. Potluck dinner followed this happy gathering..
On Vasant Panchami is a Goddess Saraswati worship day Jan 28, 2012 Revered Swamiji Maharaj was invited for a special function to threw open ‘Vidya-Setu’ hello phone in education program by Ambedkar open university, Gujarat and this program is being sponsored by Government of Gujarat. H. E. Governor of Gujarat Dr. Kamala Beniwalji, the Chief Minister of Gujarat Sri Narendrabhai Modi, Respected Vice Chancellor of the Ambedkar University Sri Manoj Soni and Revered Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj addressed, inaugurated and graced the occasion. This program will allow students to learn through television media of Government of India in Gujarati medium through DD 11 Girnar Channel.
Dr. Mafatlal Patel, a renowned Gujarati writer’s platinum jubilee festival was celebrated at famous Tagore Hall. Revered Swamiji was invited as chief guest. Sri Swamiji Maharaj released six books and platinum jubilee souvenir. This function was attended by all learned scholars and vice chancellor as well professors from all over Gujarat.
Sanada: On Jan 29, 2012 Sri Swamiji was invited to grace and bless “Mera Gaam, Mera Desh” project of mission Vande Mataram group of Sanand.
