Sri Gurumahahraj on Sept 24, 2006. In the words of
the Master................... During the celebrations of the Birthdays of great men you hear of their actions, their thoughts and their instructions, and the way in which they led their life. You imbibe several good qualities from their glorious example. You try to emulate them. You put those qualities into practice in your daily life. Frequent Birthday celebrations are necessary. Constantly hammering of sublime ideas on the mind is necessary. Your mind will otherwise run in its own old grooves. Through daily Japa you will have to bring it under control. Regularity is a very important thing. But you always forget these important things of life. You don't forget the minute items of your food, but you forget God. An ounce of practice is better than tons of theory. You have a sin-hardened heart that commits various misdeeds. It has to be made soft as butter, by the practice of compassion. A man may deliver lectures for hours together, but if you don't find compassion and humility in him shun him. Compassion and humility Swami Chidanandaji has got in abundance. In the previous birth itself he was a Sannyasin; from the way in which he behaves we can find that out. Practise compassion, service, humility and other virtues. Then shine like our Chidanandaji. This is my fervent prayer ! Chidananda is a Jeevanmukta, a great saint, an ideal Yogi, a Para Bhakta and a great sage. Swami Chidananda is all this and much more .... He was born to fulfil a great mission. " You must keep in contact with the source of your being, be ever linked and connected with the origin from which you are. Then, day by day, your spirit will begin to unfold. It will grow, develop, progress, expand, and you will attain divine experience. You will become divine." "But when there is no connection, or you have alienated yourself from It, or forgotten It, or thought of yourself as something independent, then you are full of sorrow and anxiety, pain and suffering, misery and fear." "If you want to put an end to this, the only way is to link yourself with God, Who is your source, origin. Keep that connection either through enquiry and discrimination, or through constant unbroken remembrance of God and devotion, or through meditation and continuously thinking about Brahman, or through worshipfully dedicating all activities to Him. Do it by whatever means, but by any means do it! Put an end to this disconnection from God. Put an end to your alienation and forgetfulness of God Who is all in all to you. Then your sorrow, your suffering, everything will start receding and ultimately vanish. When the sun rises, darkness cannot remain. When you become filled with God, sorrow, suffering, pain, ignorance, bondage, fear, worry, anxiety, tension cannot remain. They disappear." <<More>>.

Induben Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt of D.L.S. Bhavnagar once arranged a puppet show during a night Satsang at the holy Samadhi Shrine of Sri Gurudev Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. With all enthusiasm they staged a show of life story of Sri Gurudev. Here they showed Sri Gurudev starting a charitable dispensary near Laxman Jhula and that he needed one servant to help the dispensary work. So puppet of Sri Swami Sivanandaji brought a sign-board for publicity of the dispensary as well as to announce his requirement of one servant. The moment the puppeter announced -'Servant wanted', at once from the audience Swamiji Maharaj rushed to the puppet of Sivananda offering himself to become the first servant of the Master. Though Sri Gurudev Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj was in the form of a puppet, Sri Chidanandaji Maharaj sees GURUDEV himself in it and offers himself as a servant. Swamiji beholds Gurudev at all times, in all conditions, at any place, in any situation. What a total surrender to the Master !!! |
