Auspicious Sri Ramnavami Utsav ( March 24, 2010)
|
"Sri
Rama was the Lord Hari Himself, incarnate on earth for the
destruction of Ravana. Lord Rama was the best of men with a sterling
character. He was the very image of love. He was an ideal son, an
ideal brother, an ideal husband, an ideal friend and an ideal king.
He can be taken to embody all the highest ideals of man. He led the
ideal life of a householder to teach the tenets of righteousness to
humanity. He ruled His people so well that it came to be known as
Ram-Rajya, which meant the rule of righteousness, the rule which
bestows happiness and prosperity on all.".......
"Ram-Nam burns ignorance, passion and sin. With or without
knowledge, correctly or incorrectly, when the word "Rama" is
pronounced it showers a rain of good upon the devotee. Sri Rama is
Brahman who takes one across the ocean of worldly existence. Rama is
one in across whom the Yogis sport, that is, the Self within"- Swami
Sivananda...........<<

Sri Hanuman Jayanti ( March 30, 2010)

Where
Hanuman is, there are Sri Rama and Sri Sita and wherever Sri Rama
and Sri Sita are praised and their deeds recited, there Hanuman is.
He is a Chiranjeevi. He is everywhere. He who has eyes and devotion
beholds him and receives his blessing.
Glory to Hanuman, the blessed devotee of Lord Rama. Glory, glory
to Sri Anjaneya, the mighty hero, undaunted warrior and learned
Brahmacharin, the like of whom the world has not yet seen and will
not see in time to come. - Swami Sivananda

Meditation talks from" Ponder These Truths" by Sri Swami
Chidananda

From Knowledge to Experience "Knowledge
is the knowing of things and wisdom is the understanding and
experiencing of things.....When knowledge rises above a certain
point it matures into wisdom and gains a loftiness. Then it turns
into a flash of intuition. Everything becomes revealed, everything
becomes understood instantaneously. Intuition replaces knowledge,
knowing turns into being, and life becomes infused by wisdom."
"This process of the fruition of knowledge
comes through a constant, earnest, sincere and reverential process
of contemplating knowledge, reflecting over knowledge that has been
obtained and, day by day, trying to apply this knowledge, live in
the light of this knowledge, bring this knowledge into our daily
thoughts, feelings, attitudes and reactions to life around us."
"Ponder day after day and live a life of
knowledge as an applied process-knowledge in practice, knowledge in
living. And thus make life itself a gradual process of the fruition
of this knowledge into wisdom and ultimately into experience that
makes you a liberated being."....... - Swami Chidananda

Surya
Namskar - Sun Salutation
Surya Namaskara or Sun Salutation ("salute to the
sun"), is a common sequence of Hatha Yoga asanas. Its origins lie in
a worship of Surya, the Hindu Solar deity. This sequence of
movements and poses can be practised on varying levels of awareness,
ranging from that of physical exercise in various styles, to a
complete sadhana, which incorporates asana, pranayama, mantra and
chakra meditation. The physical base of the practice links
together twelve asanas in a dynamically performed series.
These asanas are ordered so that they alternately stretch the
spine backwards and forwards. When performed in the usual way, each
asana is moved into with alternate inhalation and exhalation
(except for the sixth asana where the breath is held in
external suspension). A full round of Surya namaskara is
considered to be two sets of the twelve poses with a change in the
second set to moving the opposite leg first through the series.<<

So Says Sri Swami Sivananda
|
- If you are sincere and regular in your Sadhana, The Lord
will bestow HIS fullest Grace and crown your life with Peace,
bliss and immortality.
- Dispassion and faith are pre-requisites for Spiritual
Sadhana. Persevere. Slowly increase the time spent in religious
practices, by reducing wastage in idle talks, and other useless
pursuits.
- An aspirant must have purity of mind, a real thirst for
knowledge and perseverance. Do the work of self -purification
rigorously. Grow in spiritual strength day by day. No one who is
thirsting for name, fame, power and lordship and enjoyment here,
or elsewhere, can achieve success in Yoga.
- Create your inner world. Carry with you, your own inner
companions, viz; Shanti ( peace), Santosh ( contentment),
enquiry and courage. The real spiritual progress of the aspirant
is measured by the extent to which he achieves inner
tranquility.
- Remember and practice the six Ss. Shanti, Santosh,
Satsanga, Satya, Serenity and Seclusion. Hear what is
auspicious, see what is auspicious. Do what is auspicious. You
will soon attain Self-realization.
